What is F.O.B?
FOB means Freight on Board. This is the location of the merchandise. This allows a company such as ours, Wind Spirit Distributing, to offer merchandise at a single price, regardless of the buyer’s location. Selling from an F.O.B. allows us to sell merchandise at the same price to someone in Alaska or Florida it would not matter because the customer is responsible for freight.
What is Cherry Picking?
Cherry Picking is when a company buys a product and then goes through the products, taking out the best merchandise and leaving all of the known "Defects". Cherry Picking is also shortchanging a pallet or a load. (Taking out merchandise to make more pallets) You can rest assure that Wind Spirit Distributing (.com) will never Cherry Pick its loads. NEVER!
Is there any legal things I should know about?
All Merchandise is salvage, distressed merchandise and is sold "AS IS". There are no guarantees. All sales are final. Wind Spirit Distributing is not responsible for freight rates, claims, and charges. Shipping charges are the responsibility of the customer. Any shipping collected is done as a courtesy for you and does not negate the terms. Any and all claims should be directed to the freight company. Some information on our Web site may contain typographical errors or other inaccuracies, or may be incomplete or not current. Unfortunately, such inaccurate information may relate directly to the price of a product, the description of a product or to its availability. We reserve the right to correct all such mistakes at any time without notice, even after an order was placed based on inaccurate information. Any disputes arising out of a transaction with Wind Spirit Distributing will be resolved by mediation or arbitration.
What needs to happen before Shipping?
Payment must be received within 24 hours after an order is placed and before the goods are shipped. Wind Spirit Distributing accepts paypal. You must also read any disclaimers and this FAQ page. You must also have your tax exemption number avaliable.
What payment types to you accept?
At this time we are taking wire transfers and cash payments only.
Is any of your merchandise guaranteed?
No. We are in the salvage business. We make no guarantee or warranty, expressed or implied, and without limitation, of merchandise fitness or marketability. All sales are final.
Do I have to deface the merchandise?
Yes. All merchandise must be defaced and de-tagged. Contact us for details on defacing.
Will Wind Spirit Distributing (.com) Broker my load?
Yes! Wind Spirit Distributing will broker all loads available. Do not hesitate to send us your ideas. Please Include: Description of merchandise, Manifest if available, Quantities available, Percentage of wholesale / retail, F. O. B. point, and any other pertinent information.
Do I need to have a dock to order pallets or truckloads shipped to me?
No. Approximately half of all Salvage customers do not have docks. Not a big deal. Just have plenty of help to unload the truck(s).
Does the truck driver help me unload?
Absolutely NOT! The truck drivers job is to drive. You are fully responsible for unloading your own merchandise. For truckload orders, you have up to 3 HOURS TO UNLOAD. For pallet orders, you must unload IMMEDIATELY.
What do I need to bring with me if I come to pick up my pallets?
You must bring your tax exemption number. Also, if you are coming with a pick up truck or trailer, bring rope to tie your merchandise down, and a tarp to cover your merchandise.
What is Salvage and store returns all about?
Customer Returns: People buy millions of dollars of merchandise daily across the United States and people tend to return items for various reasons, not all of which are because of damage or defect. A good example of this could be the new telephone your mother-in-law just bought you for a holiday present, it doesn't have caller ID and you really wanted caller ID. So what do you do? You re-pack it and return it for a different model with Caller ID. Now, Keep in mind, the major retailer is in the business of mass merchandising and not in the business of re-packaging merchandise. To keep profits flowing it is much easier for them to send this to the (CRC) customer return center to liquidate. This is where we step in. Then of course we re-sell to retailers, pawnshops, auctioneers, wholesalers, flea marketers, eBayer's, boutiques, brokers, exporters and You.
Is it possible to get a full truck-load of new merchandise at a discounted price?
Yes, we deal in New and Salvage sales, but I must add that during salvage sales it is not likely, but with a few exceptions. This is only typical for full truckload sales. 30% or more can be damaged. Sometimes even more. To play it safe consider your truckload this way: Approximately 30% (this percentage will vary, some loads will be higher and some will be lower) of all loads will be out and out "throw away". This percentage doesn't apply to individual pallets - it is meant for a full load. "Throw away" means that they are damaged beyond reasonable repair or that it would not be cost effective to repair them. Since you are paying such a small percentage of the original wholesale value (WV), you can easily afford to "throw away" this percentage. The balance is considered salvageable goods. Salvageable goods are in various conditions including: new, used, working, defect in workmanship, missing part, damaged packaging, or not working but worth repairing. You will also find many times what is called "CLOSEOUTS" mixed in with returns. These are BRAND NEW items that were either clearances, overstocks, shelf pulls, or merchandise that has been replaced by newer models/styles.
Should everyone be buying Department Store returns?
No. Purchasing department store returns is not for everyone. This is not a get rich quick scheme. The payoffs are high for those prepared to work hard and put effort in their purchases in order to create the highest possible return on investments. This is a "get-rich consistently with hard work & creativity scheme." If you are not prepared to test items, do not make a purchase. If you are not prepared to repair items - do not make a purchase. If you only want to deal with 100% retail ready items, DO NOT MAKE A PURCHASE! If you are not prepared to expect a percentage of items to be out of box, defective, cosmetically blemished etc., DO NOT MAKE A PURCHASE!!
Are you the TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN in this business?
NO! Do not believe those who claim , "They are "at the top of the heap" or "everyone else buys from us". Everyone out here, depending on their purchasing capacity buys from the same sources. Worldwide, there are businesses that specialize in nothing but Salvage Merchandise. Some of these are small operations and only deal with one or two sources. Others are huge corporations that contract for this merchandise then sell it out to others. There are opportunities to purchase directly from these large companies if you are capable of moving that sort of volume. There are others that operate warehouses where they receive these large quantities of merchandise then parcel it out in smaller lots. You can order anything from single items or cases to pallets to entire truckloads depending on the type operation you're working with. You should consider your FOB points (freight considerations), how well they can supply your needs and what sort of working relationship you develop with them. Can anyone do this?
Absolutely! However, only one in thirty people who visit this site or any other will ever actually do anything. Most dream about "being in business" or working within this industry but very few ever actually do it. Many are too scared to make the plunge. That's the reason there is such a wonderful opportunity. Whether you want to order a small amount for flea market sales, eBay, your yard sale or you want to order a truckload to be able to sell large quantities of product, nothing is going to happen until you "jump in with both feet" and make it happen! We have seen people literally start a business selling on eBay, flea-markets, or other online outlets with a small order of maybe only a case or two and over a relatively short period of time grow beyond their wildest dreams. Sometimes it is necessary to give your name to the warehouses for you to pick up, or a trucking company to deliver your goods. We are sorry but there are no referrals, references available.
Why do prices change from week to week?
Most companys will not change their prices but when we recieve a discount due to quantity that we have ordered we pass that along to you, our CUSTOMER, our PARTNER! Each load is uniuqe and different. It makes it difficult at times to lock in a price but we do our best to save you money in the end.
